sentences day. >> robert gladden learns his fate for shooting a classmate inside perry hall high school. >> for how long he'll be in prison. good afternoon. i'm don scott. >> i'm jessica kartalija. >> here's what people are talking about today. months after robert gladden opened fire inside perry hall high on the first day of school he's again facing a judge. wjz is live outside the courthouse. alex demetrick is there with the latest on today's sentencing hearing. alex. >> reporter: well , when robert gladden pled guilty to attempted murder the 15-year-old opened himself up to a possible 40 year prison sentence. >> gladden's lawyers already arguing many of the same points that failed to move the teen's trial to juvenile court. calling the shooting insanity at its finest, stupidity at its best and the act of a disturbed child. firing into the crowd in

a cafeteria with a shotgun wounded 17-year-old daniel borowy whose mother took the witness stand and talked about how it effected her special needs son and family. >> reporter: she said she thought her son was going to die and after burying one child she didn't want to bury another. arguments by both sides are still underway. >> daniel borowy who has down syndrome is expected to make a full recovery. a former john hopkins gynecologist accused of secretly recording his patients has lawsuits piling up on behalf of the patients of dr. levy. mike schuh is live in the news room where the latest. >> reporter: law firms are looking for the thousands of women treated by dr. levy. from pull page ads to meeting it's an all out effort to find the patients. he took his own life

because he inappropriately recorded videos of his patients during exams. current lawsuits are targeting levy's estate and john. investigators are looking into whether any of the recordings were posted on the internet. >> hopkins is not commenting pending the lawsuit but saying any invasion of patient privacy is intolerable. word today about a baltimore county councilman charged with drunk driving, todd huff said don't you know who i am when officers pulled the jeep over. the officers say huff was driving without headlights and his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. in 4 days $85 billion in automatic spending cuts kicks in. congress is back in town and looking for a deal to avoid the sequester cuts. republicans and the white house appear to be far from a compromise.

danielle nottingham reports for wjz from washington. >> president obama's annual meet being the nation's governors came with a warning. he said the march 1st spending cuts will impact each of their states. everything from fewer firefighters and police to flight delays at the airport and less vaccines for children. >> the longer these cuts are in place the bigger the impact will become. >> republicans say the president is making them seem scarier than they are. they say the $85 billion is just 3% of the budget. >> stop the campaigning stop sending out people to scare the american people. do the hard work of governoring. >> congress is back in town after a week off leaving just 4 days to reach a compromise before the deadline. lawmakers are talking behind closed doors but the chance of a deal looks slim. >> democrats want a plan that

includes spending cuts and raises taxes on the richest americans. republicans say they will not agree to another tax hike. they're expected to propose a plan that focuses on spending cuts only. >> i think the american people are tired of the blame game. to come up with responsible spending reductions, we can do that without hurting our economy. >> the cuts were designed to be so painful they would force democrats and republicans into a better budget compromise. after a year and a half, that hasn't happened. now time is running out. in washington, danielle nottingham wjz eyewitness news. >> meantime governor martin o'malley is driving home how the sequester could impact the economy in our state. he spoke on meet the press yesterday about why the cuts will hit maryland and virginia especially hard. >> the sequester stands to wipe out a lot of hard fought job gains in virginia and in maryland. for whatever our differences might be, we understand that this is an economic threat.

sunshine, high clouds start ing to come in. a nice day. temperature wise already at 44 in baltimore. some 30s out to the west after a chilly start in the 20s. everyone recovering pretty nicely 39 westminster and 39 in rock hall. the upper 40s this afternoon. that sets the stage for another storm system to come our way tomorrow. for more on that out to marty. >> reporter: good afternoon. thank you. train garden it's a -- it's a big one time. a winter storm system is moving towards the great lake that's going to go up to new england. for us all rain. look at that gatt hering energy down to the south. take a look at the graphic. you will see how this thing is going to wind itself up in a big way. we're going to have rain over our area. having said that, it's not impossible we start with a little bit of mixed precip before a change to all rain.

there is a winter weather watch out in western maryland for garrett and allegany counties. once this storm system passes, it's not really going to get chilly here. as a matter of fact that low is dragging up some warm. as we approach the first few days of march at this time warm fronts given the right circumstances start meaning business. meteorologist bernadette woods with some mild mid-week temperatures for you during our first warning weather segment. now back inside. >> thank you . the musical acts for this year's preakness have been released. rapers pit bull and maclamore will head the concerts in may. the maryland jockey club announcing they will perform extended sets. the inland fest will feature live music on a second stage. those acts will be announced later. in today's masn on spring training report the orioles are

welcome back. a chilly start to the day but with sunshine we're recovering nicely. look at all these 40s south and east of the city. still some 30s out to the west. we're all going to the 40s this afternoon. just jumped to 40 in westminster and in rock hall now 42 degrees. now, there has been a wind out of the northwest. it's out of the north today not a huge wind. it looks like it's updating right now. that's going to keep temperatures close to average. okay. we've got a storm headed our way. it's just down to our southwest. right now we're dealing with high pressure in control. that's going to leave us. here comes that storm up from the southwest. what we're going to see a mix to start tomorrow

before changing to rain. this is mainly going to be a rain event for us. out in the mountains this is a different story. there's why there's a winter weather watch in effect for garrett and allegany counties. the cold air is going to hold on longer to there's a chance for ice accumulation before a change over to rain. these are the winter weather watches that we're looking at during the day tomorrow. they're not in effect yet. for the rest of us, mainly a rain event around here. today pretty nice, going up to 48 degrees. tonight going town to down to 29. tomorrow could start an as an icy mix before changing over to rain but up to 45 degrees. a batch of cold air comes in our way for the start of march. we'll have your 5 day coming up. >> thank you i think. lots more come ing up. first we want to show you today's cold cough and flu report.
